John joined Sandhill in October 2023 as an Investment Advisor, partnering with individuals, families, and institutional clients to provide clear, practical investment guidance aligned with their long-term goals. John earned his Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) certification, and leverages over 20 years of industry experience to each relationship. John also holds the Chartered Special Needs Consultant® (ChSNC®) designation, allowing him to craft specialized planning and investment strategies for families supporting loved ones with disabilities.
A Western New York native, John graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2004 with a degree in Accounting and Finance and later earned his MBA in Finance from Canisius University in 2010.
Before joining Sandhill, John spent nearly 15 years as a Senior Vice President of Municipal Bonds at Roosevelt & Cross, one of the Northeast’s top municipal bond underwriters. There, he advised high-net-worth families and institutional investors across both tax-exempt and taxable municipal markets. His background also includes experience managing interest-rate risk at M&T Bank and conducting equity research at Citi Investment Research.
In the community, John serves on the investment committee of FeedMore WNY, sits on the board of the Terese Kelley Investment Group at the University at Buffalo—a student-managed, real-money investment fund—and volunteers on Canisius High School’s Fr. Sturm Legacy Fund board.
Outside the office, John is a private pilot who enjoys flying to new destinations along the East Coast. He lives in Snyder with his wife, Kathryn, and their three growing sons.
