In 2004, Tim founded Sandhill Investment Management in Buffalo, NY. Beginning as a small group of research professionals inspired by a common desire to create something better, Sandhill has since grown into a nationally recognized investment management firm with over $2.4 billion in assets under management and advisement as of September 30, 2024. In his current role, Tim serves as the firm’s Lead Portfolio Manager while overseeing Sandhill’s in-house equity and research team.
Tim received his B.A. from Yale University in 1982 before earning his MBA from Boston University in 1991 and graduating with highest honors. Tim joined investment adviser and broker-dealer Harold C. Brown & Co. in 1995 as Senior Equity Analyst. He was then promoted to Director of Research in 1996 before being elevated to Vice President in 1998 and Portfolio Manager in 2000.
Active in the local Western New York community, Tim previously served as Dean (President) of the Saturn Club and co-chair of the Westminster Church capital campaign. He was a trustee of the Nichols School from 2008 to 2015—having taken the positions of vice chair and chair of the school’s endowment. Tim received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Nichols School in 2019. He has also served on the board of the Elmwood Franklin School, Westminster Church, the Buffalo Tennis and Squash Club, and the Zoological Society of Buffalo.
